U.S. stocks
Maybe it was the rise in interest rates, but U.S. stocks felt weak overall this week. More than that, though, the stocks I picked just kept falling.
AppLovin (APP) fell about 5% the day after I bought it. Nike (NKE) also dropped sharply after a poor earnings report. Pretty much every new stock I have picked recently has gone badly.
I am starting to think it may be better to concentrate more of my capital in my main holdings. I would like to buy Meta Platforms (META) again, but it has not come back to my target price. I would be happy to see it fall below $700.
Apple (AAPL) and Microsoft (MSFT) are also above the prices where I took profits, so I am wondering again whether I should have simply kept holding them. Anyway, I will see what next week brings.
Japanese stocks
In Japanese stocks, I entered two swing trades, and neither is going well so far. JX Advanced Metals (5016) may get back into positive territory next week, but Sumitomo Rubber Industries (5110) feels like it could turn into a much longer holding.
Maybe I really am bad at picking stocks. I need to study this more seriously.
Insurance stocks have also been falling, possibly because of interest rates. I would be happy to buy Tokio Marine Holdings (8766) at JPY 500. I am also hoping KDDI (9433) might come down to around JPY 2,700.
Those are the kinds of levels I want to watch next week.
